The legendary jazz musician and writer, George Melly, died on 5th July 2007. George developed vascular dementia in the later years of his life and was cared for at home by Diana, his wife of 44 years, assisted by family, friends, carers and nurses. Diana sought help from Admiral Nursing DIRECT and she and George were soon to become a strong supporter of for dementia, the charity responsible for Admiral Nurses.

George Melly’s very last public performance was a benefit concert for Admiral Nurses and for dementia, at the 100 Club in London on 10th June 2007.

Just three weeks later, George died peacefully at home. Diana and family have asked for donations in memory of George to be made to for dementia.
