About our Staff Team

The day-to-day running of for dementia training service is undertaken by the staff team based in our central London offices.

Aubrey Maasdorp

Aubrey has over fifteen years experience of training and facilitation,both in the UK and worldwide. His areas of expertise and experience include leadership, management, and personal development, equalities and diversity issues. Aubrey regularly delivers training on topics as
diverse as Recruitment and Selection, Managing Sickness and Diversity,Stress and Time Management, Influencing Skills and Better Self Management. Aubrey has contributed and edited a number of training manuals.

He also delivers training on a range of issues regarding working with people with HIV and their family carers.

Brenda Walker

B.Sc., Cert Ed., Dip Sw, TDLB

Brenda (Ben) has worked with older people for nearly 30 years and had a specialist interest in dementia for the past 15 years. Initially she worked as a manager in various home care and residential settings and
has been a trainer for the past 12 years. She now works in a freelance capacity for a wide range of public, private and voluntary
organisations.

Brenda does a lot of work for Nottingham City where she helped develop the JackDawe Scheme, a specialist home care service for people with dementia. She continues to provide all the training in support of this service. This experience has spawned an interest in the kind of
organisational structures, care planning systems and managerial approaches necessary for the delivery of person centred services.

Brenda is qualified as a teacher, trainer, social worker and dementia care mapper.

Danuta Lipinska

BA Hons. Psychology, MA in Counselling, SRN

Danuta has developed services for people with Alzheimer's Disease, their families and the professionals who care for them. She has extensive experience as a trainer, specialising in gerontology and dementia care, bereavement, psychology of groups, teambuilding and group facilitation.

Danuta regularly delivers courses for us on mental health issues and sexuality in later life and undertakes 'Protection of Vulnerable Adults' training on behalf of for dementia training.

Danuta now has a freelance training consultancy and private counselling practice and is an international conference speaker.

Denise Westwood

Cert Training and Development LGMB - NVQ Assessor

Accredited Trainer - Alzheimer's Society (pending) Dementia care mapper
-Dementia Plus associate.

Denise brings over 25 years' experience in
health, social care, and education, ranging from specialist nursing through to the development and management of specialist services in dementia care in both Social Services and the voluntary sector. For the last 16 years, 4 of them freelance, she has supported the learning of managers and staff on a multi-agency basis in a training and consultancy role.

Denise specialises in training and consultation related to protection of
vulnerable adults, dementia care related areas, assessment and care planning, quality assurance based on user and carer consultation. She has pioneered tools for person-centred planning within the field of
Dementia care resulting in evidence based practice. She has lectured and assessed competence on the Registered Managers Diploma. Denise is currently involved in mentoring and coaching staff in a "grow your own" approach to support the effective implementation of training into
practice .This approach is based on values of including the person with Dementia and the people important to them.

She is also working with colleagues in the Learning Disability service in partnership with Hazel May -Bradford Dementia Group to support on issues of Dementia. Finally Denise is actively involved with her local
Birmingham and Solihull Alzheimer's Society branch.

Fiona Fowler

BA Hons. PGCE

Fiona joined Stirling Dementia Services Development Centre in January 2004 and has the reponsibility for organising and delivering training events throughout Scotland. She is currently involved in researching and writing for the University. she is a Tutor on the undergraduate programme in Dementia studies and contributes to the Post Graduate programme at Stirling University.

She spent over eight years working in local government as a Manager of both residential and day care services.

Fiona has worked as a regulator in older people's services for twelve years and taught for two years at Peterborough College on the HNC in Social Care Management.

Fiona is a qualified trainer and teacher and is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Applied Social Research at the University of Stirling.
