Education
and Training
Admiral
Nurses provide a wide range of training to a variety
of groups – family carers, professionals and care assistants.
Sessions can range from an hour long to full day workshops.
Some examples include:
•
The use of the Alzheimer’s Society’s training
programme for careworkers, “Care to make a difference”
•
Regular in put to the ENB N11 equivalent courses in local
universities. On this short post-registration course, Care
of the person with a dementing illness and their carers, Admiral
Nurses talk about their role in supporting carers and also
facilitate sessions when carers talk to students about their
experiences.
•
Organising and delivering carer training programmes.
Support from for dementia
Admiral Nurse training needs are discussed
with for dementia staff and, from time to time, training courses
to meet specific identified needs are arranged. Examples of
this are:
•
Presentation skills training
•
Dementia Care Mapping training.
•
Solution Focussed Brief Therapy training
•
Making dementia care training fun
Admiral Nurses can access a variety of training
material in different formats from for dementia’s
Resource Room. Good practice is shared between Admiral Nurse
teams at Practice Development Days and other occasions hosted
by for dementia.
